    According to History of the town of Medfield, MA 1650-1886 (p 334):

    Samuel Bullen signed the Dedham Compact and took the freeman's oath in 1641. He was the first European with a family in Dedham. His home was burned by the Indians during King Philip's War. He became a selectman in 1682. He became a deacon before 1689.
