Mr. Tavernia died Wednesday night, April 2nd, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Wood, of Chateaugay, after a four week's illness. The deceased was born in Canada but had resided in Chateaugay since he was 13 years old. He followed the occupation of farming until his retirement 25 years ago. His wife, the former Mary Dame, passed away 17 years ago. Four daughters and two sons survive: Mrs. Mary Wood, Chateaugay; John Tavernia, Burke; Wililam Tavernia, Malone; Mrs. Peter Amord, Fort Covington; Mrs. Gertrude Bell, Springfield, Mass.; and Mrs. Alice DeLoria, Chicopee, Mass.; two brothers Theodore Tavernia, Ludlow, Mass., and John Tavernia, who resides in Montana; a sister, Mrs. Zoa Bouchard, Central Falls, R.I.; 49 grandchildren, and 55 great grandchildren. ------------------ The Chateaugay Record, Friday, April 11,1941 Anthony Tavernier Anthony Tavernier, one of the oldest residents of this town, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Louis Wood on Lake Street, on Wednesday, April 2nd, following a decline in health due to the infirmities of his advanced age. Mr. Tavernier observed his 90th birthday on March 5th. The deceased was born at St. Chrysostome, Que., and came to Chateaugay at the age of 13 years and has always resided here. He followed the occupation of farming until 25 years ago when he retired. During his long residence in the community, Mr. Tavernier was always known as a man of the highest type of Christian character, a hard working strictly honest man, a kind husband and father, a firm friend and neighbor. He was a member of St. Patrick's church and gave freely of his time and aid to that denomination. The members of his family will receive the deepest sympathy in ther hour of sorrow. Mr. Tavernier was united in marriage to Mary Dame, who died seventeen years ago. The survivors are four dauthers and two sons, Mrs. Louis Wood, of Chateaugay, Mrs. Henry Bell, of Springfiels, Mass., Mrs. Frank Deloria, of Chicopee, Mass., Mrs. Peter Amour of Burke, John, of Burke, and William, of Malone, 49 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Oliver Bouchard, of Central Falls, R.I., two brothers, Theodore, of Ludlow, Mass., and John R. Tavernier of Anaconda, Montana. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church on Saturday morning, Rev. J.R.
